Text messages (SMS)
Receiving texts needs no setup: any text sent to one of your numbers that supports SMS (most US and Canadian numbers) arrives under Messages and in your Inbox, and your team gets a notification. Sending is switched on per number. Under Phone numbers choose Enable texting, then tell us your legal business name, what you will text people about, an example message and how people agree to get your texts. Mobile carriers only deliver business texts from senders they have approved, so we register your number with them using those details. This usually takes 1 to 5 business days; the number shows Waiting for approval meanwhile and keeps receiving texts. You are notified when it is Active, or told why it was not approved so you can fix it and try again. Once active, open Messages to reply in a conversation or start a new one; the box shows how many segments your text is and what it uses. AI replies are optional and off by default: on the Team and Scale plans you can switch them on per number, and your assistant then answers incoming texts from your knowledge base (at most a few replies per person per hour). If someone texts STOP they are never texted again, by you or the assistant, until they text START. Texts only go to numbers in the same country as your number.
